Reductionist Game UI Enhancing Immersion and Flow

Analyzing and improving modern Zelda UI and visually adapting it for a space fantasy installment

By breaking down the user experience of the monumentally successful Zelda franchise's recent installments, I attempt to not only improve upon the UI using UX strategies and research; but also design new elements to fit a different, more futurustic context by taking visual inspiration from Bungie's Destiny.

Souls-like HUDs with a Tonal Shift

Adapting the grim dark fantasy style of Souls-like game HUDs to suit a sunny high fantasy adventure

As a personal fanatic of HUD and icon design, I take the formulaic approach to HUDs in Soulslike games and improve upon the glaring painpoints while designing the aesthetic for a more bright and joyful context.

About Me

My name is Ian Ombregt,

I am a Filipino-Belgian Visual Designer with a specialization in User Experience and User Interface Design. I will graduate with a BSc in Communication and Multimedia Design with an emphasis on User Experience Design.

Prioritizing the usability and playfullness of interfaces, I add my own Graphic Design and 2D Art skills to create sleek, effective yet fun designs.

I have a deep passion for the Gaming Industry that extends across multiple disciplines, from UI/UX to Concept Art, Game Design, Storytelling and 3D Animation. These disciplines and interests have an underlying impact on my design proclivities and my approach to user experience.
